Irijah Stennett

Irijah started practicing yoga while completing her Bachelors degree, as a Physician Assistant at Howard University, in the early 2000s. However, her mother introduced her to meditation as a teen. After graduation, Ms. Stennett spent 2 years working at the University Hospital on the nations first rapid routinized HIV screening test. She moved back to her hometown New York City, in 2009. Ms. Stennett found two teachers - to learn more about yoga and maintain a peace of mind, while working in the hospital-setting, as well as living in the hustle and bustle that is NYC. Studying Coherence Breathing, movement and wellness practices with Jenna Ritter, of Dharma at theBreathing Project, and Internal Hatha Yoga with Pamela “Amma” Hyland-Wilson, the “Community Yoga & Fitness Guru." She knew that more people needed to have access to the numerous benefits of yoga - releasing tension in the body, reducing stress and anxiety, as well as connecting to your deepest desires. In January 2017, her yoga teacher "Mama Amma" transitioned to an ancestor. Seven months later, motivated by several conversations with mentors & coaches Irijah led her first impromptu yoga class, at the OneLove Intensive Self Care Retreat, in the Blue Mountains in Jamaica. It was then that she decided to become a certified teacher. Inspired by her self-discovery journey, travels with the International Youth Leadership Institute, and desire to learn yoga she was divinely connected to Master Instructor Yirser Ra Hotep (Elvrid Lawrence), founder of world renowned YogaSkills Method system of Kemetic Yoga™. As of today, he has approximately 2000 certified instructors across the globe.Irijah became a Kemetic Yoga Instructor, RYT-200, in February 2018, in Negril, Jamaica during theHealing Sun Kemetic Yoga Retreat and Teacher Training. She is excited to teach everyone from kindergartners to seniors, and continue building on her global yoga & wellness journey! Ms. Stennett, is currently pursuing her personal endeavors in international travel, fashion design, philanthropy, spending time with her Grams, family and wellness as a newly certified Kemetic Yoga Teacher & Pranic Energy Practicioner.
